A picture with my baby girl who is a Maui Humane Society alum :)
Hi! My name is Jasmin Roque. I was born and raised here on the island of Maui. Growing up, I had always been around animals. In 2014 I got the opportunity to work more closely with them upon being hired at the Maui Humane Society as an Animal Care Attendant. During that time, I found that my passion was animal behavior, so I attended Animal Behavior College and graduated in 2016 with honors.
During my time at the Maui Humane Society, I worked in many roles. I started off in the Animal Care Department, then joined the Veterinary Department, joined the “Behavior Team” as the B&T (Behavior & Training) Enrichment Coordinator, and most recently the Outreach Department as Transfer Coordinator. This allowed me to gain a multitude of skills over the years.
While working full-time, I started pet sitting on the side and found that to be an added passion. The relationships I’ve created with animals and their humans have been fulfilling. After deciding to step away from the Maui Humane Society, I decided to put my skills and passion to use. This is how Wags and Whiskers
LLC was started.
My goal is to help families create better relationships and build stronger bonds, by assisting them to better understand the way their furry companions communicate.

I'm the oldest of my siblings. Do you see all this white from the stress they gave me?! (Just kidding) I'm very much a foodie, so you can win my heart over if you just offer me food. I know I'm a little dog, but I prefer not to be picked up. If you really wanna be my friend, ask mom where "the spot" is to scratch me. She says I make a silly face.
I can be very "loud" when meeting new people. It helps if you ignore me and give me time to check you out. If I can take my time, I'll soon ask you for scratches. I just need to know you're not scary. Mom says I'm too smart for my own good so she teaches me tricks. I'm treat motivated so if you have good treats let's do some tricks!
I can be nervous when meeting new people - especially tall men - but once I'm comfortable with you, you're my friend. If I really like you, I'll give you my butt...hehe. Mom has many nicknames for me. One of them is baby cow because she says I "moo" when I get really excited. I sometimes wag my whole body and give you a smile too!
I almost didn't survive as a kitten so I have a head tilt. It's not so obvious now and mom says I'm slowly learning "how to cat"! It's been slow progress but mom is really proud of how far I've come. Something you should know about me is that I like to rub my face on your toes once I'm comfortable with you. I also very much like food so that's how you can win me over.
